The secret to this cocktail recipe is steeped tea!

Not sure what steeped tea is?

Steeped tea means to soak tea in water so as to extract its flavor.  Measure out two cups water and take the three tea bags out of their paper wrapper.

Hang the bags in the water with the string tabs over the edge of the container.  Let sit for several minutes to an hour and occasionally bounce the bags up and down in the water to extract as much of the tea flavor into the water as possible.

This water is called steeped tea!

How to Make Strawberry Whiskey Slush

Don’t like whiskey?

You can substitute different alcohol such as rum, vodka, flavored vodka, schnapps, tequila and amaretto. I have also used Pink Lemonade in place of regular lemonade as well as pineapple or cranberry juice.

Maraschino cherries and/or maraschino cherry juice will give you a little bit of a different taste.  My favorite substitution is Ruby Red Squirt for the grapefruit soda for a little extra flavor.

I will make a batch up and split it into several quart containers and freeze.  Then when we go to a gathering I will grab a container or two out of the freezer along with some grapefruit soda.

This frozen slush drink comes together very quickly, freezes in eight hours and is a great sipping beverage.  This slush can be frozen for up to six months.
